Remember the simple hat crochet tutorial I posted in December? I have had a little extra time on my hands this month (you know, unemployed, living in my parents basement...), so I decided to add to it by crocheting some trim around the edge. This is a very easy extra that will make your hat look fabulous!
Here's how:
Step 1: Attach the yarn for the trim onto the back of the hat.
Step 2: Insert the hook to the next stitch (it may feel a bit awkward I think I red somewhere that this stitch is known as the backwards single crochet)Step 3: Yarn over. Pull through stitch on hat. Yarn over. Pull through both loops on trim yarn.
(Just like on a single crochet stitch). {Sorry I don't have pictures for these steps}
Step 4: Continue in this manner around the hat
Step 5: fasten off once you get to your starting spot.Depending on which side you begin on (hat inside out v. normal) your trim will turn out differently. I liked the crisscross effect, but the neat swirls around also looks very nice.
