Book Nook: The Kitchen House

Well, one book down, 11 more to go. This might be easier than I thought. (see my 2013 goals)
Kameron gave me the book The Kitchen House for Christmas after my girlfriend recommended it to me. Goodness gracious, I could not put it down. I ended up staying up late into the night to finish it, waking up the hubs with my sighs and page turns (sorry dude).
The Kitchen House is a novel by Kathleen Grissom about an Irish indentured servant in the late 18th century who grows up on a plantation. Although she is a white girl, the slaves are her family. Many challenges and opportunities come her way as she grows up and she has to figure out what to do on her own. Grissom shows the complexities and the drama that goes on at a plantation, and how even more complex it gets when a white indentured servant grows up and marries the master's son.
I highly recommend that you borrow, check out, or buy the book, The Kitchen House. I do not think you will regret it.
